Clarification on Paper #2

Please continue to work on developing a topic for Paper #2. My suggestion that several of you work collaboratively to edit the 4/12 discussion of SOLD was not meant to substitute for your own paper. One person might take on the editing of that dialogue.

I believe Ray H is doing that right now. When I've heard it or read the transcript I'll have a better idea how to support that process.

That does not disallow anyone else's writing about SOLD for paper #2. I have a new title that might compliment it I will give to an interested reader on TH night.

Writing for Publication

Dear Class,

Please post your idea(s) for tailoring a second paper for 619 to publication in THE ENGLISH RECORD.

What would you like to work on? With whom?

We need to get started asap. TH night you should have a clear outline of what you might want to do.

Post your ideas here and get some feedback.

You have the themes of future issues. Start there.

I believe the PERSPOLIS moment has passed. But certainly if you are interested in II an essay on it would fit nicely into the theme of multicultural voices in this next issue. And you could build on the momentum of the previous issue on PERSPOLIS.

Your seminar foci lend themselves to paper topics--the books we have read and are reading together do the same.

I would suggest the possiblity of editing the SOLD discussion of 4/12 transcript as a submission in the "collegial conversation" category.

If you have an idea for submission to another journal, that's great too. I am encouraging you to start w/THE RECORD because there is a good chance of acceptance there.
