So I have found a new love in books. Ellen Hopkins' CRANK and BURNED. They are thick, dense books, but the pages are filled much like THE WEIGHT OF THE SKY, with prose poetry telling the entire story. This radically changing style of text is GREAT! I read CRANK in two sittings, and sadly, wanted more. Until I found BURNED, which is much different, but the style is the same.
I'm in love!
I wish I had found this writing style much sooner...I would have loved to experiment with my own kind of prose poetry fiction story thing. I guess that's what summers are for...

Dawn, your continuing to discover the richness in the genre is a function of your commitment to your future students. They are very lucky--and they don't even know it yet!! Surprise, surprise! KES

Dear Speedy,
It is not a good idea to pull out large drawers onto your toes, no matter what is inside of them.
